Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: First off, yes it's a dual core with hyper threading, and no it doesn't overclock (sorta) BUT, if you're building a gaming rig, WHOA!. when it comes to straight up gaming it holds it's own compared to an i7 3770. paired with a 7870/r9 270x it makes for an unbelievable price to perf gaming setup.
Cons: isn't unlocked, but you knew that already.
Is absolutely terrible when it comes to rendering speeds with Sony Vegas. I3 Processor Price 3rd Generation 2
Overall Review: As long as you know what you're getting this chip is rightfully impressive, but if you're interested in overclocking pass on by.
Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: - Excellent Price-Per-Performance
- Low TDP means less electricity used - Quad-ish core - Intel (bit of a fanboy) ; )
Cons: -CPU intensive games like Skyrim and some RTS's may lag a bit.
-Hyperthreading not friendly for all games/programs -Not as powerful as a true quad core - Mine can get a bit warm (over 60 degrees Celsius) with stock fan and decent thermal paste
Presenting the first lyrical video song 'Mere Naam Tu' from the most awaited Bollywood movie 'Zero'. Mere naam tu lyrics.
Overall Review: The Core i3 series are a poor mans quad core. With two physical cores and two virtual cores, this chip is a step up from a dual core or possibly older AMD system. Decent for gaming and media usage, the core i3 does an excellent job for the price. Deducted one egg due to excessive heat ( have excellent airflow btw) and no unlocked core i3 (shame on you Intel)!
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: This little proc has 3 things going for it. The first is the price, the second is hyper threading, and finally - low power draw. Building a system based around this chip gives you an upgrade path for swapping out a nice i7 proc in a couple of years when they are cheaper because of advances in tech. Intel switched over to the 1150 chip interface before I bought this one, but I bought this chip instead of the Haswell chip because I was building a Hackintosh and at the time I didn't want to fight with the Haswell chips to get it running with OSX since Apple hadn't released the Haswell powered Macs yet. This is still a good chip for the money and an excellent value proposition.
Cons: This is not a quad core processor - it is a dual core processor that makes Windows see it as 4 cores due to a trick known as hyperthreading. Hyperthreading works much better on these chips than in the original Pentium 4s which Hyper-threading caused to run so hot you could hardly keep them cool. That being said if you need four physical cores then you really need to step up to a core i5. If you want overclocking - you need to step up to a K series i5 or i7. You can mess around with the timings and some other features to try and get a little more oomph out this core i3 but you are really wasting your time since its multiplier locked.
Overall Review: Bought and installed into a mighty fine Hackintosh system that my brother-in-law has yet to mess up. These processors work really well and in terms of cost it gets you into an Intel system for a very small amount of money.
Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: + hyper threading! more apps!
+ low power!
Cons: um?
Overall Review: my grandma does some hardcore facebooking. I thought that Intel was a great choice, as only the I3 can handle extreme facebooking for a reasonable price!
Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: Fast, very low power consumption. high single thread performance.
Cons: not good for heavy multi threading (knew that when purchasing it
Overall Review: if I were to do it all over again, would have went with Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHz
a little more expensive, but basically an I7 for 230 bucks.
Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: Very quick for a dual core, it has hyperthreading so windows will see it as a quad core. It's great for gaming and handles a gtx 650ti just fine. Very good for budget level entry gaming
Cons: You can't over clock it but that's expected. Star wars battlefront 2 the old republic mod.
Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: This processor is stable and fast for the most current needs such as youtube, web browseing, office, and has extra horsepower when needed. Of course 50+ less than the I5 for budget builds.
Cons: none so far yet.
Overall Review: I have built 2 workstations and 1 personal computer using this same processor and has not let me down a bit. I even have the older generation (Sandy) of this series in another build.
Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: Owned for over a year. Great all around performance. little laggy on some high intensity games but very few. still lives with what I put it through. Intel did a good job on this one.
Cons: None.
